I haven't driven mine in actual snow yet as I don't have snow tires. I suspect that the 4/32 P-Zeros won't be a good tire in the snow. I do drive it once the snow is gone although I'm trying to avoid the worst salt days.

they're fantastic in snow... if we didn't use salt around here I'd daily through winter too... want to add a project/neglected 996tt (rwd'd and lsd'd) for year round use

Nice Rob. We don't have "salt" around here is is a mag chloride sand mix. May even look at a 4S with the IMS fixed. I have a 15 Audi APR A3 now and I love the car but the costs on it are silly. 578 for plates and it costs more to insure than my TT And I know the 4S and TT well from a maint and repair standpoint.

4S is certainly another option! I've thought about a cheapy '99 Carrera 2 (hopefully with rare factory lsd)...but still enjoy the Boxster a bunch during winter, so maybe stick with that...but nothing is like a 911...

OMG, you guys drive your 996TT in the snow?!?! Even with the knowledge that a 996TT will melt in the rain? Oh, the carnage!!

(well, we haven't had much snow during the 2 winters I've owned my 996TT, so you'll have to settle for pics of the '99 aerokit and the '87 951 )

I did for the first year because I bought in December. Can't bring myself to doing it anymore.
Goes like a scared cat in the snow!

I don't drive in the snow...not because the TT doesn't do fine in snow, but because I don't trust the other drivers on the road.

I've done it before when I loaned out my DD to a friend.. didn't expect snow that week and especially not as much as it was....but I did it with DOT R-comp tires (NT01s) on it at that.

I used to drive mine in the snow. If you are really serious about it propper snow tires are key. Removing the front spoiler also helps quite a bit.

I've been looking for the right second turbo to buy and turn into an all-weather rallye style car... Raised slightly on performance coil-overs, no lips, gravel flaps, underbody protection, all terrain tires. Running gear is pretty close to perfect for a build like this as it comes from the factory. Unfortunately even cosmetically challenged 996 turbo's are hard to find at a decent price...

Sort of a 996 Turbo creation inspired by Leh Keen's absolutely amazing air-cooled Safari 911 cars.

Would sure beat the crap over one of the overpriced, under powered, poorly engineered Land Rover Defenders selling for boatloads on BAT as a winter beater / light duty trail runner.
