Buying a turbo out of state
Hi guys,
I am buying an 02' turbo from a dealer out of state. Do you guys think it is mandatory that I go to inspect and test drive this car prior to purchasing? The sales manager represented the car is in excellent condition. He appeared very sincere over the numerous calls I had. The car is black wih 9000 miles. Thanks.
Sandy

Would you purchase a house sight unseen because a real estate broker told you it was fine? I doubt it. Airplane tickets are a lot cheaper than attorney's fees to put the genie back in the bottle.
Trust, but verify.

I am not sure yet. I just could not wait until June/July for the GT3 and not have a sports car to enjoy over the winter and spring.

at the very least get the PPI as somebody suggested, and I think there is a high chance that a reader here leaves near the dealer and could do a cosmetic check for you also

Ge them to represent, in writing!, the condition of the car ... no defects, no accidents, .... I still highly recommend you taking it to another P-dealership for a complete checkup under your supervision before hand.

I have decided to fly out to Chicago to inspect the car personally. If everything checks out, I might even drive it home myself. The transportation companies are quoting me two weeks to deliver it and I want it.
Any hints on the shortest route from Chicago to Las Vegas while avoiding snowy locations such as Denver?
Thanks.

From Las Vegas, proceed south to U.S. 40; go east to Oklahoma City; find U.S. 44, drive northeast to Saint Louis; In Saint Louis, proceed northeast on U.S. 70 to U.S. 57; drive north to Chicago. This route has been of safe service during the winter for many years. You will enjoy coming back on it driving your new Porsche.

What dealership in Chicago? If it's Lynch, there are 2 people there who could pre-pre inspect it. Tire-related vibration has been a problem for a number of us. You'll probably want to run it up to at least 80. This problem won't show up in the shop-only on the road. if you wind up needing any help, let me know. AS
