well, well
seems to be a controversial link I posted there
However, what this guy wrote in his article seems to match pretty much what I have been reading in other publications as well.. so it cant be that wrong..
The Sport Auto Super Test program gives testimony of the fact that the Lambo is at least a great competitor for the 996 Turbo.. (one thing that should be mentioned is that the Gallardo tested there was also equiped with the optional Sport set up, like the model tested on sportandperformance.. And one thing nobody mentions is that this comes along with a sport airfilter as well!)
so, after all, I do believe the Gallardo to be an impressive car!

The Lambo is a poser car, with out a winning race history. I'll keep my 993tt at least I know that I can drive it hard, get groceries, and smoke a lambo all with a passanger riding in the back.

I find it really interesting that you have all these comparisons basically comparing a 4 year old design (996) to the newest Lambo, and the newest Ford (GT). In most tests recently the Porsche GT3, and Ferrari 360 CS have come off pretty poorly against the newer cars, but I wonder if they will compare them when the new 997 turbo comes out. I was pretty appalled when the new Car & Driver compares a $150K GT to a $125K GT3 & 360 CS. I think this might be the first time the Porsche cost LESS than a Ford, even then why compare a GT3 ? In previous tests they had the 911 TT vs. the regular Modena, now the 360 CS, but no GT2 ??? Instead they drop down to a GT3. Mind Boggling.

The Gallardo is sweet, but the TT is more practical. I thought the Gallardo was going to MSRP at $ 165,00.00 US. I would love to have one. There are going to be a lot of nice choices out there in the $ 100 to $ 200 range. The Audi Le Mans looks to be a contender also. Still partial to Porches.

There is no dropping down to a GT3. On many tracks the GT3 is just as fast or faster than the GT2. You have to remember that C&D, for one, is very biased towards their sponsors. Many of their articles will show more favorably to those brands, and Porsche is not one of them.
