Default Looking for a Ruf exhaust

I'm looking for a Ruf exhaust for a 996TT. If you have one you'd like to sell, please send me a PM.

Thanks,

Hi. I hear the RUF exhaust is just the stock one modified a little.
I have a stock one you can take a chisel to and make your own

What are you going to use it for? You already have a higher-
performing one, but maybe it's too loud sometimes? If my wild
guess was right, RUF is an expensive way to get quiet. If my
guess is off, then don't read the last three sentences. They
are a waste of time. In fact, don't read these other last two!
(yes, I'm drunk early )

Hi Joe -

Yep. Trying to get quieter with an exhaust that has dynoed well with the other GIAC upgrades. While Stephen's Ruf results were not good, Todd's had pretty good luck with the Ruf on the dyno.

Looking for a used one, so that the expense will be less.

As for modifying a stock exhaust, we could experiment until the cow's come home, but I don't really have the time to do that. And by the time we get it right, I'm not sure I will have saved any money...

Got it. Good luck on the RUF. I would suggest also asking for
any used Europipe II quiets. They cost less than RUF, also
test/perform very well, and *are* quiet. I have one and love it.
Presumably you're wanting the quiet for real-world everyday
driving. If so, then the Europipe has another benefit, in that
to the extent that different pipe may vary their maximum benefit,
the Europipe is killer in the low-to-mid RPMs where you spend
most of your time, and not bad at the top either. I'd like a car
where the only auditory distractions from the stereo are from
all the blood being forced to the back of my head.

Default Maybe a cooler solution!

Hey Racer! I may have found a cool solution, and an odd
warning about the RUF exhaust:

All exhaust will become louder with time, the stock units actually vary more than the aftermarket versions. I have had 2 variations with the Rufs and have had excellent results. At idle and normal driving the Rufs actually sound like stock, but under harder acceleration they actually scream shades of F1. Jack(LA) has a good video clip of the Ruf under acceleration.

My dyno of my first version was completely different than the results Stephan had posted. They produce excellent torque through mid and top end torque.

Thanks for the link! I've wondered why no one had tried this approach before.

I'll give Stephen a call.
