HELP: GT3 or 996 turbo??
I need help. I have been going back and forth between buying a GT3 or 996 turbo for some time now. The GT3 appeals to me, since its more tightly focused and less of a compromise than the TT, but do I have enough opportunity to take advantage of its inherent pureness? However, I have just leaned back towards the turbo, since a parts manager told me that the Porsche child seats do not accommodate children between 20 and 40 pounds. Is this correct?
The primary use for the car would be sharing commuting duties with my M5 (50 miles round trip) which includes taking my 4-year old to school and weekend blasts. Most of my driving is on the Interstate and in stop and go traffic. I will attend 2 driving schools a year and maybe an occasional autocross event.
With that in mind, which of these choices would you recommend?
· 2001 996 turbo, black/gray, 6k miles, excellent condition, ($119k MSRP). Selling for $88,000 Porsche certified.
· 2002 996 turbo w/ X50, silver/gray, 15k miles, broker states car is in excellent condition except the driver’s door skin had been replaced and refinished ($136k MSRP). Selling for $96,000.
· 2003 996 turbo, black/black, 2k miles, ($127k MSRP) Car also has Strosek F&R spoilers. Selling for $109,000 Porsche certified.
· 2004 GT3 new with minimal options at $5k off MSRP
This has been an extremely difficult decision for me and I want to get it over with so I can move on with life and enjoy the car I choose.
I have posted this on the turbo site as well, so I can get feedback from both camps.
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

You're in Las Vegas. You have superb roads. I'd go for the GT3 since the stiff suspension won't be a hardship. It is a more rewarding car to drive because you are more involved in the driving experience. Commuting in either is a non issue unless you wanted a tip-tronic. Weekend drives in your area would be more enteratining in the GT3. For more of less the same money you get the best of the 996 technology and 4 years warranty.
The only downside is no rear seats if your kids want to bring a friend.

we spoke about my gt2, and i've owned 3 TT's and 2 GT3's.
why not search the subject? we have babbled profusely on the subject.
we don't know where you are in the evolution of your car needs. there was a time i really preferred a TT. but now i would always take a gt2/3 instead in snow free, low rain SCA/S NV.

I have finally made my decision
GT3!!
I have done a lot of soul searching and have come to the conclusion that the GT3 offers me the visceral and immediate driving experience I am craving for in a sports car.
Thanks for all your input guys. Special thanks to Colm and Watt for your words of wisdom.
Now, I just have to locate a GT3 in the right color (white, silver or black).
