Default 6GT3 FD Motorsports Muffler

Hello All,

Has anyone tried this mod?

There is a new to me 2004 GT3 down in the barn. I have some of Fister's modified mufflers on my 993's and like the sound all through the RPM range.

I realize that a modified muffler will not increase power but they perk up the sound a idle a bit.

Also, are standard OEM 996 cans the same as GT3?

I've seen two styles of mods . . . . ?

Thank you!

Regards

.

Did you end up having Fister modify your mufflers? I loved my Fisters on my 993.

I did this mod and I would highly recommend it. I bought a second set of mufflers and sent them straight to Fister. That was probably a waste of money as I don't see why I would ever go back to the unmodified stock mufflers. These cars are way too quiet from the factory and sound great once you open them up a bit.

For the 996 there are no option for stages 1, 2, 3. One size fits all and I would probably put it at stage 1.5. My cats failed recently so I spiced things up a bit more by adding an x-pipe w/ sport cats, but I really liked the Fister mod with stock everything else. That is how the car should have come from the factory.

Since no one answered cemoto's question.
I used sliced and diced 996 Carrera cans on my GT3.
The output pipe of the cans did not quite align with the tips, so I made a fixture and had a local muffler shop re-align the output pipes.
or
maybe it was the inlet pipes of the cans did not quite align with the cats?????????? it was 6 years ago......................
either way, they did not work without modification.
