Oh, when you said "ride height," I thought you were referring to the actual chassis. I have no idea how the bumpers compare.

Sharks

if the MKII GT3 you guys get over there is similar to the MKI, its a daily driver for sure. I test drove a MK1 this week - its is SIGNIFICANTLY softer & quiter, with lighter steering than my 964 C2. Driving 'normally' its a pussycat. Under throttle its a bit wilder! Still, even on UK roads, its a car that I - or my wife could do the shopping in!

One more thing, I remember remarking on the fact that the height of the GT3 is lower on the spec but in reality higher than the GT2, I suspect the measurement point is not the same on the two cars.

i remember a finger's width less room between the top of the fender well and the top of the tyre on my GT2's vs my GT3's.

but, in reality: "My GT3 does not scrape in places where the GT2 cannot even go!" is corroborated by my experience. kinda fun zipping thru areas in my GT3 winter truck where i had to brake and mosey the GT2's.

Are the front spring rates the same for the GT3 and GT2?

Every GT2 I've seen, the gap between the top of wheel arch and tire looks smaller than on the GT3.

I just drove my car from Long Island to Summit Point West Virginia - smooth as a baby's ***. My girlfriend and I were both completely comfortable and actully found the seats to feel real nice on a 5 hr trip.

I have made my point many times on GT3 vs GT2 and I agree with Bob's value point. Cannot beat this car for the money - Hands down best value Porsche ever available.

I was able to pay 1000 under for my GT3 mainly because I am a previous customer with my dealer. Otherwise there are so few around here and probably more buyers than cars so as far as I know they will not discount in NY no matter what. They will give away the TT though - but who wants that...

Viken, the number you posted are for the pre-2004 GT3 only. The 2004 GT3 heights for both RoW and USA from the current French workshop manual are:

Front axle height: 115 + 5mm (115 to 120mm)
Rear axle height: 128 + 5mm (128 to 133mm)

So comparing the two versions by taking the average of the allowed ranges, the rears are about the same but the front of the new car is about 10mm higher than the old car.

If that is the case, I stand corrected. I'm sorry if I have caused any confusion.
