997.1rs vs 996rs
What are the differences in drive experience between a 996rs vs 997.1rs? I've considered importing 996rs before. However wonder if it is very similar to 7.1rs drive experience I already own. Not like I'd be doing it for its good looks. It would round out a few other RS I have but again, prob wouldn't do it if felt like near carbon copy of the 7.1.
And, no, I wouldn't track either. I would turn to Porsche latest and greatest warrantied pdks machine for the track. This would strictly be back roads on nice day.

996 vs 997 is a fairly different experience IMHO....track, I'd trust a 996 far more than a warranty on a 991...

zero similarity
go drive a 996gt3. it's way harder to drive than 997
if you like how 996gt3 driver, then 6RS is better than 7.1RS

Interior and exterior looks the 997 wins with a landslide.
You know my view, a 996rs drives and performs very similar to a well modded 996gt3.
Like Mooty I've always liked them.
Have owned Mk1 and now own mk2 and RS.
Sorry to say it, but. Only reason to buy 996rs is because of $$$$$! They will be worth $$$$ in 10-20 years.
There are better cars for weekend drives. And a well set up 996.2gt3 drives the same and cost less.

I didn't like the looks at all of the 6gt3 when first released
today it's has a quirky fugly duckling appeal looks wise.
On track it's gotta - i will bite you in the *** brute attitude, if you are not paying attention.
More fun and rewarding to drive...than my 4.0 was, for me anyway.

Looks wise you can't beat a pumpkin or frog. Interior of a 996 with a cup wheel and club sport package is retro perfection. The raw visceral appeal of the drive is what keeps me smiling everyday.

Agree on the frog and pumpkin comment. Possibly my fav 911 look of all time.
I need to get behind the wheel of a 996 Gt3 and I'll know the answer to my question in 15min.
