I attended my first driver's ed event this past weekend at VIR in my E46 M3. I was one of a few non-Porsches there.

I'm a true Porsche fanatic. I was in awe and some of the cars. 996 GT3 cup cars, 993 supercup cars, Ruf 993 Turob, Ruf 996 Turbo R, 2 new GT3 street cars that drove down from Canada.

I was surprised and how fast the new GT3 is. And what a terrific sound they make.

Here are a few pics

I traded a SMG E46 M3 for my arctic silver GT3 and the M3 is the German performance bargain. Great car and very fast. Not a 911 but hell it cost half of what the GT3 cost! I really liked my M3 but had to have another 911 and the GT3 is a REAL 911! I wanted to try the SMG so I could pretend to be Juan Pablo, and it was fun for a while, but if I had to do it again in an M3 I'd get a manual. Much prefer the manual in the GT3. Do wonder why Porsche doesn't do a SMG type trannie instead of the Tip though as it is just a slushbox you can shift yourself, sort of... at least the SMG is a manual with no torque converter. Anyone here driven an Audi TT with the DSG trannie??

Yes, I have driven a 3.2 liter TT with the DSG. It shifts extremely quickly but still has some delays under certain throttle applications and between certain gears. It may have been that one example I drove but barring those delays, the DSG felt very good. Really good.
