25 hours on an engine rebuild is way too low to rebuild. Even the pros would rebuild at 60 or so. Us club guys go well over 100 with no issues.
The trans is another story. 25 to 50 is about it. So, just rebuilt is great. If left too long that can cost $20k or more. On the other end, I have seen 50 hour transmission rebuild at $5k.
You will be hard pressed to find a car under the $100k mark. And, the 997.2 cup is going to be the new 993 (my opinion). Last of a bread. The 991 is a completely different car with higher costs all the way around including the aluminum chassis which is hard or impossible to repair if hit hard.
The 997.1 is another story. For whatever reason, the prices are in the 60 to 80 range. Great deals for anyone.
A mystery to me that a Cayman interseries race car will fetch over $100k, but a factory car will not.
btw, I have two 997.1 cup cars for sale and one 996 cup car for sale if anyone is interested.
Thanks
Ed
