Keep the GT3; anything g else is a compromise you may well regret . Just my opinion. There are only so many GT3/996s left out there. Nothing else comes close.

Concept of getting a second car - I would and that makes a lot of sense until you consider the cost of parking a car in DTLA. I currently have two parking spots in DTLA (the other for the GF's car) and that's already $250. I'll also be moving soon and I honestly don't know how much parking is going to cost ($100-200/spot most likely). I just can't justify it. I would like to get back into an E46M3 (had one before the GT3). It really is the perfect compromised sports car).

Mooty, as always, you had me laughing out loud.

AudiOn19s - This is very true. I want to drive an M2 but I don't think dealerships are even offering test drives at this point...I don't know. I haven't honestly looked into it (and I guess that's because I know I'm making a dumb decision)

I wonder what the response would be on one of the BMW forums...hah
parking in DTLA is cheap
my parking in DTSF is $600/month (that's with an annual prepaid discount)

my new garage space i leased while big is $5000/month
the trouble i goto to hide stuff from the nosy wife.

so parking is never an excuse.

Yea $100-200 a month per spot is nothing. Just get both and make the decision on what to keep.

I have both a 996 GT3 and a new M2 and the cars about as dissimilar as you can get. New M2 is great and the turbo torque is intoxicating. Regardless it will suck on the track, even if you only go 4-5 days a year. This is not an apples-to-apples comparison. Sell GT3 for something else, like a new GT4 and that maybe a better choice.

Had a look online and MSRP for M2 is $52k! That's Shelby gt350 range before you add anything to the M2. Gt350 offers so much more bang for buck than M2.
See if you can drive both.

I would strongly recommend to keep 996gt3. Only trade towards 997gt3. I sold my 996.1gt3 many years ago. Regretted every day until I bought my 996.2gt3 over here in America.

Good luck with your decision.

KEEP the 6/3. It's the last GT3 without the the government mandated "nanny" state items to help save the driver's butt as, you know, it only has ABA and an LSD.

I have a M2 as a daily driver... and a 997gt3 as a fun weekend car.

Like others have said... totally different cars. If I had to pick one, no question the GT car would stay... But the M2 is a wonderful everyday car... especially if the roads are crappy - like they are where I live.

Keep the 6 GT3.

If you must so that you can drive it more often without fear, add a nose-lift kit and the store stock parts on a shelf.

Drive it and put MILES on it. The coolest GT3s are the ones with the most miles.

Sell 6GT3 and buy brand new M2? Did you each paint chips as a kid growing up? lol

I used to be a big BMW fan having owned E30/E36/E46M3s in the past. In my opinion, BMW has lost it's ways many years ago. Today's BMWs do absolutely nothing for me (aesthetically and performance wise) and I have yet to see any of their new cars hold their own at the track....

i think the m2 is as fast as the 996 GT3 on some tracks.

M2:
+ comfortable daily
+ good performance
+ new
+ perhaps as fun as the GT3 (good chassis, 50:50 balance)

996 Gt3:
+ engine
+ sound
+ better looking
+ feeling (raw, mechanical, pure)
+ steering
+ resale (but maybe same cost of ownership, in your old GT3 you have the invest/repairs..., M2 is new and you can enjoy more miles)

You can have fun in both.

In a few years, brand new M2 will be just another car on the road. 6GT3 will remain a classic, especially in turboland.

The E90 does OK once you add brakes to it. Stock brakes suck. They're not slow. BUT, they are heavy. And when it's over about 80 out they get about 2-3 laps before oil temps are in meltdown mode. the news ones i've seen heat soak issues on.

GT3s and porsches just keep going and going and going and going and going and going.....

And i'm with you, they don't do much for me. For some odd reason wife won't drive a porsche or she'd have a cayman instead.
