Lately I have been driving my X51 997 C4S most days, and the GT3 has been setting for a while. Made a donut run this AM and was blown away by how raw and how fast he GT3 feels in comparison.

Winding up on the freeway onramp the car reached 105 in 3rd, screaming like crazy. Love this car.

Over 80 in second and almost 120 in third - it's a great ride!

But, it's way more bumpity than the 997. In a good way

I call the GT3 the mistress/stripper- she's skinny and I drive her rough

The 997 is the wife- a little wider hips and reacts better to a lighter touch

I totally agree with you. I also have a 91 928 GT, no slow car, and yet when I drive it after Sabine, my GT3, it feels like I'm driving a tractor.

Nothing against the 928 as I truly love that car too. Don't want to offend any other 928 owners!

Just picked up an 04 996 GT3 and just spent 3 days at VIR on track. Wow! It's amazing, I'm hooked. Acceleration out of Oak Tree is violent!! 😀

996 GT3's are great but amazing how they are now middle of the pack with all the newer generations out there. 996 GT3 more engaging and challenging to drive.

Hollmatt,

I was there with NNJR too. Great weather, great new surface. Could not have been a better 3 days.

Gofishracing,

Only a few cup cars were able to pass. The 6GT3 can still hold its own...except on the straights...but we catch them in braking and in the turns.

The NNJR event was intense. Especially for a DE. I posted some videos on youtube. Too many incidents - My goal was to stay out of trouble- no on track insurance included with my regular car insurance anymore. A lot of full race prepped cars. I drive to track.

I agree, it was a pretty intense weekend. I am in the instructor group, and there are always fast cup car drivers at NNJR, but also some well driven GT4s. I drive better ( well maybe not better, but faster) when I am chasing somebody.

Ken's GT 4 was Super hooked up. The Protosport guys were on high boost !! I've always loved Tom's 996 Super Cup car. If stolen he'll come looking for me he said. I had a great time, a little humbling. I guess the older I get the faster I was. New Cup 2 tires are really nice. AND my NASA roots were on Thunderbolt. GREAT to see everyone.
