Market update......
For those interested in the state of the GT3 market, and whether or not these really good GT3 cars bring better than average money.
I had only one serious buyer actually drive this GT3 and evaluate my car for a purchase. This buyer gave me an offer for $80 K which I declined.
He agreed that my particular GT3 was superior to everything else he had looked at, and he evaluated them all. Stated that he felt that my GT3 was worth the money I was asking, but a bit beyond his budget.
In the end he did make a purchase of a great GT3 with higher mileage.
The exceptional GT3s do command an exceptional price, but the truly exceptional GT3s that check all the correct boxes are becoming harder to find!
Cheers!

Since you incited the pricing discussion... I know of a sub 10k absolutely perfect (literally only used for pch cruises...) example locally that can be had for not far from your asking...
I'd say at 80 for yours is a strong offer.
But is it worth to you to sell? Sounds like nope. I'd be with you on that. Unless you need the space or $ keep it. Special cars.

You are spot on!
Absolutely a strong and generous offer.
Yes, not quite the money needed to let her go.
What else are you going to get for $80k that even comes close...
Let's hear that conversation.

Thanks for sharing the market feedback on your car
I always think of our 996 GT cars as the rodney dangerfield of pcars
It's boggles my mind that parts bin cars like 964 RSA and 993 C2S with their standard motors/transmissions and turbo running bits have higher resale than our cars with their superior engines, transmissions, brakes, suspensions, etc. In their buyers guide excellence says our cars are great, but that the sun-roofed, electronic nanny filled 997 cars are "vastly superior". Not my experience on track or in the driver's seat.
I bought my 996 GT3 a bit before you back in 2008, and it's finally worth more than what I paid albeit in inflated 2016 dollars vs 2008 dollars. I keep waiting for the day the market gets these cars and the fact that they are the winningest platform in Porsche racing history, and great fun to drive/own

Interesting perspective. I had never thought of it that way (parts bin v. GT3, and the 997 nannies etc), but you are absolutely right.
Our cars are not the fastest, by any measure, but they are special, and there will never be another; there just can't.

I'm seeing that most everyone who has owned a 6GT3 and no longer does, openly state that it was the best car they've ever owned and driven. You know what else? They are small! Really! More, they are great looking sports cars in the Porsche 911 tradition, profile is seriously Porsche Fast. I even like the all business interior. Everyone wants an old Porsche, me too but mine has to be fast and very engaging. Done!

Yes, are they small, or are they just a normal Porsche 911 size?
I sat my 6 GT3 next to a 991 GT3 at a recent track event, and the size difference was astounding. I have no problem with the later GT3 cars, they are beautiful! But they definitely have a different , "aura" than 997 and later GT3s.
My decision to keep my GT3 was a sound decision. And my very good friend who tried valiantly to purchase my GT3, now has his own. So the new track season here in Colorado can't get here quickly enough! A new GT3 to chase around the track!

I recently say a 991 RS in the "flesh".
i know they are great cars dynamically, but at first site it seemed grossly swollen.
still, i wouldn't kick one out of bed, 'specially a purple one........................
thus far the 996 GT3 is the sweet spot for me.
i really liked by 993 4S, but it was time to move on.
the older cars are mostly too primitive for my tastes
and the newer cars are either too big, too nannied, or too expensive........
Ciao

The US market is the last world market to recognise the value of the 996 GT3, possibly because there are so many of them there (comparatively speaking)? It will only be a matter of time before it corrects itself IMO. Even at 150K in Australia, there still isn't anything that comes close to the driving experience in $ terms. The 996 GT3 is stuck in the middle ground of the 911 world, perfectly wedged between old and new, and it's a great place for it to be.
