Default DME Report...would this scare you?

at first i thought this was 400+ over revs, but its ignitions, so this could be one 9300 rpm money shifts, or a whole bunch of 8900? Im not sure how to read this...

help is appreciated!!

Now that's a Porsche that has been driven!

At 8,000 RPM that ignition count would indicate an accumulated 1.2 seconds of time in an over rev condition. The last range 2 over rev event happened about 2400 miles back.

That's the worst report I have seen personally--I have not seen that many. I have heard tell of much worse over rev reports. Must be a 996 given the two range over rev counter? As you know 997 records over revs in six ranges.

I would say no big deal, if it runs well. After 2400 miles, if the 1.2 secs of over rev did damage, you would know it by now. If you are really interested, you could do an oil analysis.

Is there any concern over the type 1s there? Or is that merely a matter of revving the car past 8000 on regular occasions? It seems the 996 DME registers type 1s like it's nobody's business, compared to the 997??

Opinions may differ but type I's don't worry me at all. My car has a significant count of type I's and is still very strong running.

I've found the over rev reports highly suspect. My car stopped recording type 1s last year and now only records type 2s as I see them going up consistantly while type 1s stay the same. Go figure... My car has a raised redline by 800rpm over stock.

that report while not showing a virgin, it is not that bad.
occured 80+ hours ago
i wouldn't shy away from it if that's the only issue
if you are nervous, run a comp/leakdown

Type 1's are extremely common esp. for cars with flashed ECUs raising their redline.

That number will likely keep climbing until it hits 65,535, being the max number the archaic 16-bit ECU can store.

Type 2 is what concerns you but happened some time ago like others said.
