Help with HRE wheels/tires (long)
Hi
I have a 2nd set of 3 piece HRE wheels that had my ho-ho's on them but have sat in the garage for 4 years now. Yes I have been off track for that long. I want to use these rims as my regular rims now and stick the stock ones on the rack for a bit so looking to spruce them up and mount fresh rubber. I have 4 questions to get that done (below).
Here is what the wheels look like now:
First question- does anyone know how to decode the HRE serial numbers on these wheels?
Front: F31691 5T18P437015
18x8.5
Rear: R31691 3T18P658525
18x12
Second question- the wheels are really dirty (inside) and water stained(?) on the outside. Any suggestions on best/safest way to clean these up and specific products to use? The wheels appear to be unfinished aluminum, just polished or almost so on the face, is that normal for HRE? Any way to tell for sure?
Water stains(?)- how to safely remove?
Insides covered in old rubber beads from track
Third question- I was going to mount PSC2 tires on these but the 12" rears seem too wide for those in the 295 width based on tire specs. Can anyone recommend another good R comp that is streetable that will work on 18x8.5 front, 18x12 in rear?
(Note- on my other set of these rims I have run NT01s for years on the street. Yes I like R comps on the street, YMMV not looking for comments there). I drive about 2500 miles/year so not worried about wear, just about R comp grip, works in the rain, and isn't too loud (NT01s are very loud on highway)
Last question- if local to bay area, where would you go to unmount hoosiers and mount new tires that won't scratch/mess up my rims? I've had a bad experience in the past, was using Ferrari shop ($$$) looking for better option. I'm in 650/penninsula

Hard to find wider than 295 18" r-compounds anymore...Before it was easy with CUP and Corsa.
Limited options left. Noisy Nitto and Toyo...and Kumho V700 (V70A).
