Default Odyssey PC680

I fitted one of these 6 months ago and it is now dead. I was using a Ctek MXS 5.0 to maintain it and never went more than 24 hours without it being on charge yet it still died. I was a little disappointed with this, I thought given that it's just a weekend/track car that I could get away with the 680. Now I'm not so sure? The car did stay at a workshop for a few weeks and they may have damaged it but I'm only speculating.

I now need a new battery and it's a toss up between the 680 or the 925. I'd rather not have to have yet another battery bracket fabricated though if I can avoid it. Anyone out there using the 680 with success for a prolonged period?

Cheers

Odyssey's tend to die fairly quickly on CTEK chargers. I think they over charge and dry out the cells. I've had good luck with Battery tenders.

That's what a reseller of odyssey here in Aus told me over the phone but he was very vague so I had my doubts. I have since purchased a Noco Genius charger which has 4 different charge settings including one for smaller batteries but unfortunately it wasn't able to get the battery back to a healthy state. The car cranks over but it's not doing so with much conviction. My knowledge of battery tech is very limited but once the Odyssey's go flat they're a throw away item?

I installed a PC680 this year and so far no issues. I even have a cool suit in my car. When the car is not at the track I do leave it on a factory Porsche trickle charger.

996 GT3 is an electrical power hog, especially when you lock the doors with the alarm set. I have the 925 Odyssey and can leave it off the charger for about two weeks with the alarm set before it starts to run down. No problems whatsoever on my float charger. In cold weather, the battery drains down a bit faster if it isn't on the charger

I've got the 925 in my C2. No problems so far and I got a tad more than four years out if the first one (I'm on #2). The GT3will get one when the wet cell currently in place is up for replacement.
