997 Gt3???
Any ideas if we'll see one here in the states?
If so, what will the engine look like? There's the
talk of a S version of the C2 that would put out
about 380hp, so where would this put a GT3's
layout and hp at?

Looking at the past two S versions... IMHO it would likely be a turbo bodied (suspension & brakes) version of the NA 997. From the past versions the S used the standard NA engine with no power increase. IMHO, the 997 3.6L X51 engine will become standard giving it 340hp. If they were to increase the displacement up to 3.8L for the same engine, it woud only put out ~360hp (based on 94.5hp/liter for the X51 3.6L engine).
If Porsche plans on a 997 based GT3 race car, they will have to produce a 997 based GT3 street car to meet the homologation rules for production class (GT) racers.
My $.02.

Peterm - Actually the 997 GT3 will come near the beginning of the 997 model run, to homologate the race car. This is what they did with the 996 also, but it wasn't US legal until now...

I think the GT3 Cup will be one of the first 997s, probably hitting the race circuits as early as spring '04. Expect the street version announced late 2005 in Europe - the US may never get 'em.
