Daily Drive your GT?
Hey all,
I was just curious if any of you use your GT3, GT3 RS, GT2, etc.. as a daily driver. Or at least take it out more than often...basically if you don't keep it hooked to a charger in the garage for half a year lol

I drive my 6gt3 almost daily. My commute is short but I try to take the long way as much as time permits. I had an M3 for a while that I washed more than I drove. I finally realized I got what I needed to get out of that. When I was looking for my gt3 I purposely got one that wasn't "perfect" so I'd drive the heck out of it.

Agree with the rough areas/winter point, 993gt, I have my f250 for exactly those instances.
Exactly kgorman. I mean for me at least it gets the hell beaten out of it on the track so daily driving (esp since it's not city) shouldn't be a big deal. I don't get why a lot of guys let them sit and hold 6k miles on the odo in the span of 10 years.
I always say "it's not a shrine, it's a car" but wondered if there were any technical reasons as to why a lot of guys had them as garage queens.

Drive mine daily and have for 3 years now. Short commute of about 15-20 minutes and enjoy driving the car too much to get another car to daily (use wifes X5 for long trips and hauling though so the 3 gets a break every now and then). I went through a period where I had 3 cars and I found myself always having to maintain and detail all 3 of them, and it never seemed all 3 were clean at once. Got sick of that and sold everything but hte GT3 and just started enjoying it.

I never thought there was anything wrong with DD'ing the 996 (15-25 min commute as well). I'm in a similar situation with the garage...the 997 and king ranch are going so it'll just be the S5 and 996. I was skeptical of getting rid of my truck at first only because of I was hesitant about DD'ing the 996, but its taking up space and has almost 250k on it.
People should enjoy their cars rather than have em sit and get flat spots on the tires.

996GT3 is a daily driver for hard core enthusiasts. Yes, you can drive it cross country without any issues, but it will not be the optimal tool for that mission.
Mine is just for the track and I keep it plugged into the trickle charger. BMW E90M3 is my daily driver and X5D is my tow vehicle/wifes daily and 87 911 is the fun weekend car.

I take it out every few days to wake up the neighbors and scare Prius drivers. My schedule makes track days a rare thing - I have a schedule of road trips planned for The Beast (Jupiter to pick up a gallon of Orange juice, Naples for Lunch, an overnighter to Tampa to shoot a commercial for Two Guys Garage, etc).

Mine has a tag but I rarely take it out on the road. Only if someone wants to go for a ride in the passenger seat. I drive it to auto x and trailer to the track just in case something happens. Always nice to be able to get home even if something brakes.

I drive mine as often as possible. I could drive it daily if I had to, but prefer to enjoy it as intended, carving canyon roads, and flogging it at the track. The clutch is surprizingly easy to engage so even in bumper to bumper traffic I can handle it, it's just not that enjoyable in those conditions.

It is not a dd for me as soon as I drove it off the showroom floor. Never liked it on the streets but tolerable to/fro to track. Awesome car on track- best car for me- visceral is an understatement on this car!!! Mike
