Driving Sebring next weekend with the stock diff. Car goes in for a new LSD after this event. What do you guys recommend to do while in there?
Car has 55k miles. Stock diff but pretty new clutch!
I'm thinking LWF
Cup cables
Please add to the list! Car is 90% track! Cage, sparcos, RS wing, 997cup exhaust etc. so no need to worry about transmission noice and so on.
Thanks

Drivers side rear axle needs to be removed from it's flange at the transmission, side cover off the transmission and the LSD comes right out. Start to finish less than 1hr of labor doing it slowly.
So if the rest is fine leave it.

OEM with OEM plates...which means its definitely gone.
I want to go GT...what's the cost associated with the upgraded plates? How long do they last?

Matt,
There is no such thing as a Guard street LSD. We are a Motorsports company and all of our components are designed and intended for racing. Our base model G50/G96 LSD is the GT3 Club model. As the name implies it is intended for Club racers. It is a full billet unit that is stronger than a Porsche factory Cup LSD. Our entry level product is better than their pro Motorsports part.
Regards,
Matt

So, with the Guard internals within OE housing and ramps, will this also be a simple 1 HR job to remove and replace? How long does the actual rebuild of the LSD take? Can it be done locally with Guard parts, or does it have to be shipped to Matt for his magic touch? TIA

The one major difference between your 996 LSDs and the 997 is that you got the good ramps. 996 GT3 LSDs are identical to 996 Cup LSDs with the exceptin of the clutch kit.

Tranny doesn't need to come out for the LSD to come out. If you are re-using your stock housing you don't even have to set gear lash when you re-install the unit.
