I agree with the RS comment, although I've never driven one. I was curious how the standard GT3 fared as relates to other variants. It's a true Pity we didn't get the 6-3 RS here in the US. It would be fabulous to note the difference in terms of driving feel between the two.

I would imagine it's very similar. The engine and power are exactly the same. The RS is just a tad bit lighter..I forgot the exact weight. If you did a 0-100 sprint the RS would prob beat it by 1/2 a car length based on being lighter. Would be cool to see a race

+1

This is the only listed one in AU, which seems to be sold... not sure on the price? Last ones I seen listed just shy of AUD $200K.. so now, who knows?

It would be my pick of ALL water-cooled (save for RS 4.0)

The RS. But the 996 GT3 is close. The 996 GT3 is the last of the real track cars. The 997.1 is not so close. The .2 even further apart.

Just confirmed what we all know about the 996 gt3 RS. It's the best race car for the road Porsche ever produced. Forget the headlights I just can't imagine collectors won't lust after a 6gt3/RS 10-20 years from now. Take the headlights out of the equation and we could be talking about the best Porsche ever (purist standpoint)

Best sex I've had has been with average "last call" bar pick ups. None of the hotties did it for me.

996 GT3 RS, best road car for the track. Don't tell the 991 guys this. They may call you a conservative old timer.

I started a thread over on the Early S Registry all about the GT3's in all their variants, and it's on it's 35th page. The Early S guys really know their P Cars. Before the 964's went off we were talking about them then and there. Now we're discussing GT3's. Check it out:

OP asked about long term appreciation, the biggest difference between the 4.0 and the 6rs is that almost every 6rs that left Stuttgart went straight to the track. Production nr if I remember correctly is 682. My guess is that there is less than 50 cars in low mile collector condition.
The 6rs was not a limited nr car, just not enough hard core fans outside the US that wanted to buy them!😜😜😜

Thanks Cavalino. The discussions are generally well thought out on that board and are frequented by some very knowledgable guys who have been around these cars for decades.

Perhaps when all cars are turbo down the road NA cars will be more coveted. Especially old school high revving ones

The RS feels more Raw than a Stock GT3, more special i guess, but lots more pennies for actually not a huge amount more, but definately more exclusive.

cheers
Scott.

+1 on Scott's comment! The 6rs is just a slightly rawer version of the 6.3. Engine produces a bit more power and some light weight features. But definitely feels more exclusive than my 4.0! My guess is that the 6rs will be worth more money than the 4.0 in 10-20 years.

VIN is everything as value goes. How many RS's were made and where were they sold? I would LOVE to own one of these .......forever. Were there any sold to NA market?
