Default Tire Drought

Seems like we are having a tire drought. Fellow Rennlister EMB and I are sitting here and can't seem to find NT01's in our sizes. Discount tire doesn't know when they will get more stock.

What are good alternatives?

Requirement: I drive to the track.

Have been looking at MPSC, R888, V710 as alternatives. Any advice on those or any other good choices? Maximum bang for the buck is interesting, maximum bang is interesting too. ;-).

Wonder what's going on with nitto? I use 305's...those ran out. Were out for months. When they finally made more, it was some pitiful small amt...now they are out again.

I just tried ordering 315s from Discount Tire Direct last week.. they accepted the order, but called and said they were all out (and out of both the 235s and 245s for the front). Not sure when they'll get any more in stock.

V710 245/40/18 and 315/35/18 are very fast tires. Give those a shot. About 1-2 seconds faster than NT01s. I've been running them this year along with the Nittos.

PM Mooty to see if he has any more stash in 996 sizes... I don't know what's going on, but I stocked up because of the first round of issues earlier in the summer that nearly cost me a track weekend. No tires = no track. Weak.

1st 6-7 cycles are faster than NT01s. After 10 cycles, they are slower than NT01s. After 15 cycles, they are done. As a reference, I get about 20-23 cycles on NT01s before cording. I'm hard on tires...

Word is Nitto is in their winter tire / truck tire production cycle and will not be making NT01s till the spring. This goes for 235s, 245s, 275s, 305s, and 315s which are all out of stock. This is what I heard from my best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend at 31 Flavors last night who knows this guy at Nitto. 235/40/18s are the only ones left that I know of..

I get <15 out of NT01 ;/

v710 might be the ticket. Do you guys think 30m driving each way to/from track would excessively wear them?

Default V710 should work

Kenny,

If I recall correctly, Mr. Potter ran his 1:57... over the top at thunderhill on this tire in his stock 6gt3, so you ought to be just fine if you can find them.
