Appreciate the idea...any other way to confirm this? I don't think the tank was always filled at 3/4 and this problem was apparently not an issue 6-7k miles ago.

Thanks...saw your thread.

So I just tried this again and the window does not move down when you use either the internal or exterior handle. When I try the handle inside the car, I can hear the motor trying to do something but the window doesn't move down. I don't hear anything (motor) when I try the handle from the outside but the window also doesn't move down.

I will try to gently pushing down the window to see if it moves down a little after I open the door. Assuming I can, then its pretty safe to assume that its the window regulator, right?

Also, looks like the regulators are by side:
* Left: 996-542-075-04
* Right: 996-542-076-04

Thanks!

Congratulations! If you'd like to have the issue(s) looked at: Tom at Lucent Motors (310) 231-3328.

Cheers,

So happy for you! This is such a sweet car. Really miss it even though I love my 997. The 997 doesn't feel as nimble and responsive...this car was just perfect! Hope you enjoy it (sent you a pm by the way!). Enjoy it and I hope next time I get up to your neck of the woods I'll be able to check it out!

You're going to love your GT3! We have a pretty good article on how to replace the regulator which may assist this project if you're going to DIY. Check out Replacing Your Window Regulator.

FYI, the regulator failure is fairly common. My mechanic does a lot of them. for all the things like windows, guages, non-performance stuff, our GT3's are the same as a stock 996 or even boxster - mass produced and prone to failure. Its in all the performance stuff that our cars are VERY different.

Enjoy!

Oh, and my wife and I are some of those daily driver people - she drives it fairly often in traffic to work. Loves every minute of it...

Just bought my GT3 August 14th. I know the feeling. This is a wonderful car. Mines had the rear portion of the air box swapped with a fabspeed one. Tonight I put in a standard factory box and the car is now quieter inside and sounds a lot like the 997 GT3 I used to have.

I daily drive my car while the weather holds up. There is nothing else on the roads that gives me the thrill of a GT3.

So congrats!!!!! A lovely car to have!
