Still plenty quick for a car that's 10+ years old!

Great video. Can't help but be a bit skeptical of the times being spot on. But even if the GTS could be quicker with pdk etc... I am sure most enthusiast would still take the 10+ year old GT3. It's just that much more fun to drive.

I watched with interest but can't help thinking that the lap times aren't relevant based on the showboating and drifting out of corners.
I'm kind of miffed at the thought of a cayman being as fast as a 6GT3.

Was good to see a recent video with a 996 in it, think with some refreshing(ie. original struts/shocks) the GT3 would still be a bit quicker. Still a more pure experience and fast enough.

Saw the video a few days back... cool comparison, but something sticks out in my mind that goes along with similar comparisons.

Even though the new GTS is a great car, they picked the tightest track, usually favoring a car like the Cayman against the GT3.

I'd personally still pick the 996 just because of the visceral feel, no nannies and laser sharp handling. I think people are a little harsh saying the 996 was the bastard of the family, but hey what do I know

I don't specifically mind a new car being faster than my 10 year old car. That being said, the GT3 is a car that has a lot of time gained by driving it a certain way. I'm curious how the times would compare with drivers more dialed in to how to extract the maximum from each platform.

From what I could see, it looked like the GT3 was wearing Advan AD08's (sticky summer tire). I'm not sure what the CGTS had, but this adds that this comparison was more about how the cars drive rather than which is faster. For me at least... The Caymen is also probably easier to hop in and drive fast. I agree with Burger about driving the GT3 a certain way to extract speed.

Cool video though!

Regardless of lap times, he had a much bigger grin on his face while driving the GT3.

Having owning both Cayman and GT3, I have to say the Cayman GTS is really nice but does it brings the joy of driving as much as the GT3?

I'd sold my Cayman for the GT3 and i haven't looked back since.. I love my GT3, it is a perfect Porsche for me. It is raw, beautiful, wild looking, and surprises me every time I get on it.

I think that the true driver cars like ours no longer exist and hence long live the 996 GT3

I think the GTS is faster than 6gt3 on most track.
which one is more fun is fkr the driver to decide.

IMHO never seen a street cayman even track ready pass me. Lol

Perhaps the type of driver to get the gts is different than one who dials in a 6-3.

Most fast drivers I know buy a cup rather than gts.

Maybe just in Florida.
