Recommend A Top Notch Shop for GT3 in NY / NJ
Looking for a trustworthy and competent independent shop with a solid reputation on the GT1 cars who can do a reliable PPI for a reasonable price. NY/NJ, please.
Thanks,

If not too far from you, Mike Bavaro/BodyMotion is a good shop - http://www.bodymotion.com/ . Has developed a subspeciality in GTB1 Caymans recently but they originally (and still do) service/rebuild GT1 blocked motors (Cups, GT3s of various sorts, air cooled, etc) and can do a good/thorough PPI.. Not sure re price but typically, esp on the east coast, 'you get what you pay for' in these matters ...

I get my GT3's and SPB serviced, maintained and setup at Powertech in Rockaway, NJ. They a very competent with the cars and work on more than a few GT3 trackcar's. They are also a certified tech inspection site for the NNJR region of PCA. Ask for Jake.

Thanks guys. Both of those shops sound like pretty good recommendations.
I guess I should try to be a little more specific with location. Looking for something as nearby to Spring Valley, NY as possible. Powertech was about 40 miles away, which is probably a little far to be reasonable for a PPI.
Does that location specificity help at all?
Thanks,
JA

I would stay away from HAIRY DOG GRRRAGE in Oxford CT- others have recommended it, and perhaps if all you need are tires changed or clutch replaced they are fin, but one of the worst Porsche experiences I have had...
Have heard positive things about Speedsport, but have never done business with them.

Not meaning to be a wet blanket - but when I am looking for a recommendation I look for both positive and negative reviews. This allows me to try and form an objective opinion. I understand that my opinion is primarily negative and would gladly recommend other shops if I had 1st hand positive experience but this is my limited exposure in the specific area.

Not looking to start an argument but that's the only negative comment I've ever heard about Dan Jacobs. I do business with every single shop recommended here and would trust any one of them to do a PPI for me, let alone build me a racecar.

Nor am I - It is just one person's experience - lots of positives out there and he could be fine for a PPI and it could just be personalities... but is is an experience with a modified GT3.

I'm going to guess personalities. He provides arrive and drive service for about half a dozen modified DE GT3s in addition to several Cup Cars. His son is a top PCA GTC class competitor and they ran a Cayman in Grand Am in 2011.
At the NJMP race that year I watched Dan change a broken upright in less than 15 minutes in the pits without taking the car to the garages.
So yeah, I'm going to go with mismatched personalities.

I appreciate both positive & negative but Dan has a GREAT reputation and is customer focused. I just got a little upitty when a saw a critical random negative about Hairy Dog. N/P (might be because I'm CVR )
