Default Rebuilding Brakes

Time to rebuild the brakes, replace seals etc. Where can the parts be sourced?

Can the parts be sourced as a kit or do you have to order individual part numbers?

TIA

I planned to rebuild the brakes too, but will have to find sometime first!

I have nothing against Zeckhausen, but any Stoptech dealer can source you those caliper rebuild kits. FYI, Centric owns Stoptech.

MTB - I bought my rebuild kits locally from Mopac in Langley, was about half the price and I didn't have to deal with shipping/duties/etc.

I'll also be rebuilding my brakes this winter - new caliper bore seals/dust boots, rotors and pads all around. I've now gathered all my parts - thanks to Jeff at Turn 3 Autosport for great pricing on Pagids and replacement front Brembo Type III's, Uli at Weissach for rear OEM rotors and Frank at Driver's Edge for Motul RBF. I'll be arranging a tech session at my house as there are a few local PCA'ers who are interesting in observing a caliper rebuild. If you're intersted in joining, you can PM me your email address.

Ian I should have noted that I'm looking for PCCB Caliper rebuild kits. Did you source a kit for those or the Iron Rotor version. My usual sources in the states are striking out on the pccb version. Haven't had the chance yet to check with Brembo.

TIA

Curious why you think your calipers need to be rebuilt. Have have PCCB's as well. I was also thinking about it just due to age.

Mine are not pccb. I'm sure there are others here who'll be able to confirm whether the pccb calipers utilize the same diameter pistons. If so you should be ok to use the same kits.

My rebuild is prompted by the observation that one of my rear brakes is showing quite uneven pad wear. I'm hoping the bores and pistons look ok once I disassemble; if not then a more thorough rebuild or perhaps even a caliper replacement may be required.

gman, my car has had three years of approx 30-35 days per and the dust boots are gone, some of the ceramic pucks have chips I got to believe the o-rings are pretty much done as well. So want to get this done prior to spring start up.

Ian, so far I've struck out finding pccb kits for the seals, dust boots and pucks, but i've only checked with a few vendors. I'll be contacting brembo next.

Will post what I find out regarding pccb parts. The rears should be the same for the iron specd cars. The fronts are different, but it may be that the seals and other bits are the same.

Ian,
Great that we can source the rebuild kit locally! Can you PM the part # from Mopac?
Thanks for offering the tech session! With 2 kids at home, its hard to find time in the evening or weekend!
Wonder if those bembo rotor fits Giro hat? Let me know if I can pick up your old bembo rotor and I will test fit on the Giro hat.

Cheers,

Mike

PMNA rebuild kits will fit both the yellow and red calipers. Same piston diameters.

The Centric part numbers are shown on the Zeckhausen website. One kit per caliper. Here are a front and rear kit (front is on left). Just call Mopac and order two of each. I haven't installed mine yet, but from everything I've read, these should fit.

My bet would be that the Brembo rotor won't fit a Giro hat, but you're welcome to borrow one of my used Brembos. I should have one available for pick-up sometime in January.

I've always had best luck here for anything Brembo (official US Brembo Distributor):

Grant,

Thanks for the input. You're the second person to direct me to Rick. I'll get in touch with him.

Best,

J
