Sounds like the 996.2 is the most focused, maybe too much for the road.

It is interesting to hear that they think 997.1 has a significant advantage in performance vs. 996.2, since most here on Rennlist felt the difference between 996.2 and 997.1 is minimal in terms of track performance. But I guess the comment in the article was geared toward the usable performance on the street.

Mike, so the magazine version of the article is longer than the online version?

I'm sorry that we never received the 996.1 GT3 in the US - those are always heavily praised (with many reviewers thinking it's the best drive - despite being the slowest).

The front brakes on the 6.1 let it down BADLY especially on-track, I liked how it handled, but I think the .2 was the sharper "knife" ...

It seems like that's the trend.. the .2 in both cases were stiffened up / sharpened up (according to the article)..

Yep! ... I still think the 6.2 is the most rewarding "drivers" car ... at demands the most from the driver in order to make it go fast ... despite the fact that it has some "dodgy" old Le Mans engine, antique manual transmission and no RWS!!!

imagine!

Yeah, per my original post, it looks like the reviewer thought the 6.2 was the most hardcore of them all.. narrower body, less refined ride, etc.

What do you expect? It was the closest thing to a Cup car...

Too bad that we never got those in US... silly DOT! At least the difference isn't as major as the 997 chassis (both the 996.2 GT3 and RS are on the same narrow body chassis) so we can always tinker our GT3 w/ seats, cage, suspension, etc, etc. to make it sort of a RS..
