Default GT3 info please

Hi,

I've been looking to buy a 996tt recently but have stumbled upon a 2004 GT3 for sale with very low miles. I'm talking <5000 miles on this car. I really don't know anything about GT3's and what to look for as far as options and that sort of thing. Also what are some common problems with these? What is a mint GT3 worth in current market? I just don't even know where to start or what to ask this guy. All I know is that these hold their value better than turbos and i can't imagine this will last long, so if i need to jump on it I need some help. Thanks.

Totally different car than the Turbo. Do a search.

Car is probably worth around $60k.

Not many common problems other than coolant hoses pop occasionally but Turbos have the same issue.

The car is rough on the street. It's loud inside. On a track it's wonderful. If you're not going to track it or don't want a hardcore car move along. This car demands respect. No traction control. No PSM. Just ABS. And the driver. The driver is the limiting factor.

drive it over railroad tracks and any rough roads you commonly travel. To me the 996 GT3 was the best car I ever had. Better than 997 GT3 in many ways. As Chris stated, rough, a 1/4 cup on coffee in the cup holder will splash over the rim, loud, almost impossible to have a cell phone call. For me mostly because it was hard to keep the RPM below 5,500. Clutch peddle reminded me of my 1965 mustang, you have to plan approving curbs and pulling into parking lots as the splitter might end up under the car. I love all of it so the car is perfect for me. The GT3 is not for everyone wether comfort or power with RWD and no TC

Would this happen to be the yellow one? Regardless, $62k seems to be money for this mileage. I was tracking 996 Turbo/GT3 pricing and the values for ultra low mileage, no stories cars seems to be going up. They are great values and I feel as though they are developing the own following among Porsche fans.

NSX dude- This is not a yellow GT3. Forgive me for not giving too much info as i don't have much to give anyways, but no, not yellow.

My brother-in-law sent me the info b/c he knew I was in the Market and he just bought a 2011 GT3-RS so just something else to consider. I would not track this car. It would be mostly a Toy/weekend car to just have fun with. Something very different which I like about it. I do know that these don't have any TC and that does worry me a little but not a ton. Mostly thinking this could be a good investment at the right price. Then again I say to myself can a car really be an investment?? Risky. Mixed feelings about it right now. Not sure what the right decision is.

Drive one and then decide. Not for everyone. I was looking for a turbo to replace my 996 C2 and stumbled across a 996 GT3 in the process. After driving a GT3, the turbo felt a little numb to me. I didn't get a deposit down quick enough while pondering my decision. Three more attempts before success. No regrets

Agree with above, You got to want it, then, you got to learn to drive it which is a huge part of the fun. Be expecting pure adrenaline rush when it is on it's turf(track). For a fun weekender toy, I bought a turbo which I still own. The GT3 is in a whole other league imo.

toy weekend car without track would be TT or 997gt3.
996gt3 on street is like walking on nails after you walked on coal, which i happen to love.

So what makes the yellow one worth way more? the crazy low miles? Just trying to wrap my head around the value of these cars. It seems as if there is a big spread of values on GT3's. For example:

Yellow ebay GT3 3,xxx miles asking $79k
Black GT3 13K miles asking $69k (dealer)
Yellow GT3 30k miles asking $59k (dealer)
Red GT3 20k miles asking $59,9K (dealer)
Black GT3 43k miles asking $54k (dealer)

most of these dealer prices you can assume are inflated above market value right?
The guy on ebay has a premium on mileage but is $79k excessive?

Thanks.

In the latest panorama, there is a private seller red 6gt3 with <8k miles asking $62k.
