Key fob programming

No reason the key needs reprogramming because you changed the battery. Why do you come to this loose correlational conclusion? How does it not work?

My first guess is user error. The key doesn't lose programming, it's the car. The car is programmed to recognize that key and it's unique transponder chip.
Does the key light up when you press a button?

Ok, let's move on to the next obvious trouble shooting item.
How long has it been since the car has been started (ie., locked and then unlocked and started with the key in question)?
My guess is that it has been a few days and it has shut down and you have to do a "reset". Here is an excerpt from the manual.

Interesting with the scan Dell posted, and I should have remember the part of remote not working to unlock the doors after a few days since I store my car through the winter, and may not drive the car for a few days even in the summer if I was on trips.
However, when this happens, I have never had the alarm go off if I just use the key to unlock the door and then open it.
OP, glad you got it to work, beats what I found with one of the two keys with the remote fob which didn't work while I was buying my car, the previous owner told me up front only one fo the two keys work so I thought it's nothing a new battery wouldn't fix.
Imagine my surprise when I opened the key fob after the transaction and found there was not even a circuit board in it!
I figured that key must have been put through the laundry by accident and he just throw away the board rather than getting a replacement key fob to be programmed, I've since bought two blank unprogrammed key fobs and will just keep them unprogrammed until if and when my current key stops working.
