Default New GT3 owner from Scotland!

Hi guys, been a long time lurker on here but thought I better sign up properly now I'm in "The Club".

I've wanted a 996.2 Club Sport for an eternity and ideally had wanted one in Speed Yellow or Guards Red but when this one came up it was too good to pass up. Just over 11,000 miles (not KM's!) on the clock and every receipt from new so I'm delighted

Here's a few pictures after I'd finished detailing it last week, I hope you like!

Loads more pics here from its detail in case you're interested: http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...d.php?t=291614

I see you have the front console option (581), was the Clubsport inside battery switch supplied to the car ?

The Mk2 switch is under the bonnet (although its not wired up,you have to pay Porsche extra to do it apparently!)

From what I have heard, the interior switch for the MK2 (M003 & RS M004) was never mounted from the factory, but rather supplied in a box with the car. I don't know it this was true since I have seen wery few MK2s fitted with the inside switch.

Also since you can get the front console with the MK2 ClubSport & RS, there is a specific switch to go inside that console, it is documented in the PET :

K996 612 921 70 (04- 1 M003/581) assembly kit battery main switch comprising:

- K996 612 227 70 (04- 1 M003) battery main switch
- K996 613 185 70 (04- 1 M003/581)switch inner complete with trim for switch

These parts are designed to fit specifically a car like above (Model Year 04, Buit M003 with option code M581 "front console"), what I was wondering is if these kits were really supplied unfitted when new, or if they had to be bought afterwards.

I've only seen a couple of MK2s with the console and the switch fitted.

same, i've only seen a couple of 6.2 with the switch, iirc it was up on the right side of the radio on a rhd?
6.1 was down on the front of the centre console.

Interesting!

I've done a couple of CS's at work and they didn't have the switch either. I bought my car with everything that was included with it when it was new including the roll cage front section but there's no switch in a box....

Welcome to "The Club" Clark, absolute beautiful car. She looks pristine....

Also, good to see some representation from " The Granite City". I lived there for a short while back in the late 90's. Lived in the Skene House apartments off of Union Terrace. Had the best time I tell you, great people and lots of drink. Ha!

Great riding and driving roads toward the west as well. I always love visiting, I am there about every other year, still have a few friends there.

Welcome

- MK1 M003 is straightforwad : you'd never get that front console and the switch was right in front of the gear lever (always fitted by the factory).

- MK2 & RS, either you do the same setup as the MK1 or you get that elusive kit to fit the button on the console. In that case I believe you can fix it rather anywhere (drilling required I guess). I've seen it below and even inside the shelf.

That's not a button you'd press often anyway

Hard to tell from your pics, but make sure you fit the ClubSport Werner fire extinguisher. Your passengers will love hitting their legs on it
