Default Sunken gt3

I was out of the country when Sandy hit the Jersey shore and my GT3 was there at the time:banghead. The car sat through two high tides which left a high water line of about 15". on it. I did not return for three weeks and found it filled with water. Obviously car does not start, gives engine failure light on dash. Beautiful all leather and carbon fiber interior now looks like a science experiment. The good news is, I have a stated value policy, and anticipate a check for the value of the car. The question I have is should I pursue salvage buy back from the insurance carrier and what are my options?

see how much they want for the salvage, the frame is good and most of the parts are fine.
It could be a great car to strip for someone.
I might buy it as is.

If it's salt water damage it has a value of $1.00 IMHO. If fresh water then it could be a good candidate for a stripper.

I used to race boats and can assure you the complete electronic package, every wire, fitting, spring, nut and bolt are completely compromised after three weeks of sitting in salt water. run do not walk away form this car.

Take the money and run. Run. Run away as fast as you can. Do you want to run a junk yard with just one soon to be stinking flood damaged car?

Bad luck Sandy hit your area. Good luck you had good coverage.

Think of what you're going to buy once you get the check.

Do us all a favor please and see if your insurance company will make sure the car gets a blemish or salvage title and after you are paid post the vin so none of us get snookered into buying it. Thanks in advance
