Default GT2 Radiator Prototype Rennline Screens

The guys at Rennline shipped me a set of the prototype grill screens for my GT2 and we have installed them and are providing feedback.

Fit was very good and the silver color worked great with our car. The fit back after install is very tight and makes for a great seal. I was shocked at the amount of leaves and dead bodies the Guys at Performance Speed Tech dug out of the side radiators living proof of what these are needed.

Ran the car three times after screen install and have two nice big dents from rocks thrown from the track. If the screens had not been there to take this hit I can only imagine the fin damage to my radiators. So from a protection standpoint 100 points our of 100, the only down side at all may be the need from a cosmetic standpoint to replace after several years but this is far cheaper than the radiators themselves and frankly just cosmetic anyway.

Hope they get these out soon.

Here's Mike for Performance Speed Tech installing them. From start to finish the install took only 2 hours and best of all the right parts were there and all of them. Great video on line on You Tube for the Turbo ones made it simple.

You can see where Rennline took into account the fins and the fit is very tight. the clips worked well. No Tape and all installed inside.

The finished Install looks great and protects the radiators great.

To anyone out there running a track with out these screens or the ones for the other Porsche models i can only ask WHY???

We sell about 80% of these in black so we really don't even stock many of the silver ones. We would love some images in black.
I spoke to the guys at rennline about doing Rees for us in bLack, and what other models they build them for. This was their reply.

Currently we have these grills for

991/991s 981
997.2 Carrera/GTS/GT3/Aerokit/"S"/C4
997.1 GT3, GT3RS, or Factory Aero Bumper
997.1/997.1S 2005-2008
997 Turbo
C4S/996 Turbo 02-05
996.2/996 GT3
996.1
987.1 Cayman
987.2 Cayman

I still use the Blue furnace filter from home depot. Change it every few events. $3.98

It looks like those clips holding the screens in would compromise the rubber inlet duct's sealing around the inlet trim pieces. Is that much of a concern?

Honestly, as good as all this is, unless it is strictly for track work [in which case the blue filter screens are a great idea :-> ] I love the bare and somewhat brutal look of the GT2 with no screens. There is something very businesslike about it in spite of the screens being better.

I took all my screens off. I hate to remove my bumper to clean debris out. All the little grass and debris that makes it through is annoying as heck.

I agree on the strong look of the nose without screens. However my car is 90% track and the stones that fly on the track outweigh the appearance. Also the grass is of less concern to me than the stones and the damage they cause to the fins of the radiator. I will bpnever disagree with Himself however the dents in my screens have me convinced that on the tracks I run stones are an issue.

Furnace filters will absorb any impact I've encountered. I replace them every few event. Easily blow out remaining debris with compressor.

Good solution. That's the best thing about Rennlist. There is always someone that has already experienced and experimented with things that seem new to me. Thanks guys for the wealth of information you have supplied me.
