996 GT2 Aftermarket differentials
Anyone got any views / first hand experience of non OEM diffs for a 996 GT2 used solely on the road ?
The OEM diff (with both OEM and cup plates) just isn't working well for me, its locking action is too harsh and too early under normal road driving.
Part of the issue is the sheer grunt of the engine causing the ramps to open and effectively lock the diff with the slightest application of the throttle. Pressing on its not too bad, but the diff dominates the car during normal road work.

I'd also like to know this as I want to change out my diff over winter but don't know which way to go.
Does anyone have any experience with carbonetics? I was told these are very good but don't know anyone who has tracked one a lot, so not sure on reliability and durability etc
Thanks

Sounds like you need some custom ramping and/or preload setup to alleviate the early locking action. I too would strongly suggest contacting Matt at Guard. You sound like you know what you're looking for and I think he'd be a good match for your needs. He's a magician with diffs....

Many thanks for all your answers.
We've now stripped the diff out of the car and measured the ramp angles.
They are 30 degree (power) 55 degree (overrun)... I need a steeper ramp on the power side - who can supply me with these?
As suspected, the shallow angle means the diff is locking under very small throttle applications due to the immense low down torque produced by the GT2.
