Default Gurgling Sound After Shutdown 2004 GT3

Anyone notice a gurgling sound from the oil tank area just after shutdown on a 996 GT3? It lasts about 4-5 seconds and sounds like oil flowing either from the tank or to the tank. I have never noticed it before and do not know if this is normal or not. I would appreciate any comments.

I do often hear gurgling on shut down seems most prevalent on the drivers side rear quarter .No clue if it is oil water or what !

41k miles, and mine has done it since day 1. Never gave it a thought thinking it's the water finding the lowest point in the system.

I was wondering what that was as well.
Must be normal, unless all our cars are not normal

Common on my 993, but I have not heard it on the GT3.

I don't know Serge - I think it is a demon. Every time I drive the "3", I feel possessed...

When the radar detector goes off at 8000 rpm in 5th gear - that would be a demon!

I always wondered what that sound was. I thought it was coolant but this makes more sense.

+1 on the oil. I actually climbed under the car to check and that is exactly where the noise was coming from.

What the Porsche Dealer told me (after listening to several cars and consulting their PCNA Tech Rep) was that GT3's operate at a near vacuum in the crankcase (this added 10 HP). When the car is shut down, the outside air pressure and the vacuum seek to equalize. As this equalization occurs, it displaces some oil which is the gurgling sound we all seem to hear. Makes sense if you remember high school Physics class.
