Default Car is in getting a new water pump and pipes welded, thoughts and plug recommendation

Hello,

My water pump went on my GT3 with 42K miles so I am taking the opportunity to freshen up what I can.

-coolant pipes welded (the one behind the alternator I pinned last fall was leaking:-(
-new hoses
-spark plugs
-fuel filter
-water wetter

What plugs do you guys recommend? Was going to go with Super R6 385 unless you guys recommend something different.

Also my rear passenger side PS2 was corded on the onside lip...I gotta figure that out as I was planning to take it for an alignment. IT still has the stock toe links but has driven fine on the street and track.

Anything else?

Thanks!
Ian

'If' you generally drive on Clockwise tracks, this 'may' be a sign that your LSD is fried and you have an open rear diff. If your diff is open, then when you have the outside rear wheel loaded, the inside wheel definitely has less load on it (may be in the air) so that the car's tq is sent to the wheel with the least resistance (your passenger side rear) and what you get is a warn inner edge as the the wheels spins with little load over it and thus wears out the tire in this area.

I'm not saying this is what is happening - but since it is on your rear passenger side wheel and most tracks are clockwise - it is a decent guess.

Makes sense and I do drive on mostly clockwise tracks however these are my street tires and only have a handful of "rain" laps on them......

Light weight flywheel and clutch, RS front pulley, front and rear main seal. Just did the same thing on my 45k mile. Didn't do the LSD as that was all the budget would stand at thd time.

Actually all of that has been done from the previous owner at around 30K miles~ Light weight flywheel and clutch, RS front pulley, front and rear main seal.

Hopefully just the LSD and should be good for a while:-)

Check the intake plenum hoses. One of mine cracked in half. These cars are getting old. The rubber felt like hard plastic. Mike

Inspect the coil packs, I had to replace a couple, they were working, but when the motor was dropped the two forward packs had cracks in them.

Car is back together, they pressure tested it for 2 hours and all of the welds held. They are going to start it and get it hot to make sure there aren't any air pockets in it.

Thanks for the suggestions~

I'd nix the water wetter and instead go with Penray 2000 or 3000. 85Gold got me looking into this. The Penray products meet ASTM standards, WW does not. WW has alcohol too, Penray does not. Widely used in fleet maintenance programs. Penray may be sold under the PowerCool brand, same stuff in the same bottle. Thanks for the tip 85Gold!

wear on inner tire bead, check your rear coffin arm bushes for wear, when worn they allow a free loaded tire to kick out more, causing it to 'scrape' round corners while exposing inner tire bead to road surface.

Just had leakdown at 14%. Machine the heads added significant butt dunno power. Maybe you should have them do leakdown while you're there Charles exhaust of course helped too.

I too just did water pump coolant fix. New lwfw. 2 new pulleys. Exhaust. Valve guides. Heads. Fixed crankshaft. Never ending but worth it!
