Default BFGoodrich g Force R1 - 04 GT3 Sizes

Hello mates. I'm considering trying the BFG dot slicks. I have a 04 GT3 18" wheel, 9" in the front and 11" in the rear. In Hoosiers I'm generally 255/35/18 in the front and 305/30/18 in the rear. BF dont have those exact sizes. Here is what they have.

I'm thinking 245/40 fro the front and 285/3 in the rear. Thoughts.

225/40ZR18
245/40ZR18
265/35ZR18
275/35ZR18
285/30ZR18
285/30ZR18
335/30ZR18
335/30ZR18

Thanks.

Don't know any of the 6-3 crowd running these, but a friend with a 6tt does and loves them.

I ran 245/285 Hoosier when running national SCCA AutoX so the car would be nimble and rotate. I don't see any advantage in running that small a rear tire, except maybe cost, over the 315 Hoosier for track duty.

Don't quite understand the 2 x 285/30 and 2 x 335/30???

Was at my tire place today picking up a rear Hoosier to replace one that split open after 5 heat cycles (still can't get an answer from Hoosier whether warranty or not after 3 weeks ), and the topic of the R1 came up. Apparently growing in popularity, and has good life.

Per Tirerack, R1 in 285/30 has tread width of 11.5" v. Hoosier 315/30 @ 11.8", so I say go for it... and let us know.

I think that Hoosier might have become a bit arrogant??? So might be time to try something else...

Also picked up my first set of Nittos, and really looking forward to this; a tire that gets better and better until it cords, v. a tire that gets worse and worse until there's still lots of rubber left, but no grip (MPSC).

Don't get me wrong, I love my cups, but the performance curve drives me nuts.

I have considered these tires several times for the GT3 and may try them out next. As was already stated they run very wide for their advertised size. NASA assessed them more mod points in their system not because of outright stick but because of how wide they run.

If you run the 245/40 and 285/30 your front tire will be .5 taller than your rear tire - this 'may' result in abs issues - I say may but who knows

Since you have a 9" front rim, the 265/35 is actually a .5 inch shorter than the 245/40 and the same height as the 285/30 and would be better abs wise. If the 285 is as wide as people say they may actually be a good match - you will likely need to tighten the front sway 1 hole is my guess.

To the OP, did the BFG's show up yet? Can you possibly compare / contrast the physical size vs. Hoosiers when you get them, possibly with pictures?

I ended up finding several sets of barely used ALMS yoko slicks. Too cheap to turn down and they worked great on my RS. I'm still planning on the BFG for sometime before the end of the year.
