Default Major rubbing of front tires on GT2

Running 245/40-18 F and 335/35-18 R, Toyo R888 and RA1 respectively. Fully adjustable suspension. This car has been a track car much of its life.

I have just begun tracking it after purchasing last fall. I have been running at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and am turning pretty quick laps (1.14-1.15s with South oval). I am getting major rubbing. The front tires have destroyed the front of the inner fender liners and on the left side the tire has worn the bracket for and edge of the radiator. The tires rub a little in the rear at times and rub slightly on the inside when turned sharply.

It does not look like offset, camber, caster, ride height etc will fix the problem. Thinking of going to 225s up front which are .6" smaller in diameter.

Anyone have thoughts, suggestions?

Thanks,

Bailey

Most of the GT3 guys I run with including me in a Carrera S and now a GTS....run 245/40/18 up front with no real major issues like what you are seeing.

What are your alignment specs?

I had the lower sport PASM on a 09 Carrera S and used 245's and was getting some major rubbing but it was fixed with the adjustable castor pucks/Thrust washers on the lower control arms. I even use to run 255's up front with not major issues.

245/40s rubbed for me as well until I got stiffer springs. Ran 245/35 and things were fine. You can raise the ride height until you get the 35 profile.

I run 255 up front no issues at all. How's your caster?

Are your strut hats rotated? Sounds like you're probably running over 2 degrees of camber in the front (and probably more like 2.5 - 3) and all of that was achieved with shims in the LCA. Given the suspension geometry of these cars, the more shims the more caster. To achieve the same amount of camber with reduced caster, you could rotate strut hats and take out some of the shims.

thanks guys. I don't have all the specs to answer your questions but will find out and may reach back out. Car has adjustable caster pucks.

The 335.30.18 rears rub the inner lining. I will not worry and replace it when needed.
