Default Broken Wheel Studs

I had converted my 996 GT3 to race studs in 2010. At Watkins Glen a week ago, I came in from a session and we found that two rear studs had broken off.

Yesterday, at another Watkins Glen event, a driver in a 997 Carrera S came in also with two rear studs broken off.

Check your wheel studs after every session......

I had the same experience at the same track last year. Changed all studs and I now check them every session.

Which studs did you install? I've never had an issue ever with studs. As long as the wheel nuts are torqued down properly and checked after each session there should be no worries. Sounds like a loose wheel transferred the energy to the studs and then *snap*. That or bad materials used to make the studs.

Scary; thanks for the reminder!

Not just studs, but IMO check just about everything you can put your eyes on frequently if you car sees track, or heck, even no track, considering these cars are nearing 10 years old...

Check prior threads. Many of us have had broken studs with our GT3s.

^ +1. I had a few break in the last 3-4 years as well. Most on rear wheels.
