Just installed my Dension Gateway 500
Couple of comments here...
The GT3 doesn't have a CD changer. So you don't have the fiberoptic wires coming out of the back of the CDR23. You have an ORANGE plug covering the ports... So which one do you need to use? Turn the stereo on and see which one lights up? Exactly. For those of you playing at home, it's the port on the right.
In the Gateway 500, you get two pair of cables... you don't need to go outside the cockpit. I installed the unit in the space under the center stackand ran all wires there. I installed the USB block, along with the reset "plug" in the glove box. I ran my Ipod/phone connection up under the batwing at the center of the shifter boot and then laid it into the little storage tray where I'll likely sit the phone when in the car.
I then wired the constant power up inside the fuse block. There is a Green wire with a red stripe at the very base of the fuse block. That wire is a constant on. I jumped the power into it, and ran the ground wire to the brass screw that attaches the left side of the fuse block to the interior sheetmetal.
I'll double-check everything tomorrow and then get the port turned on Monday. This install went very easy, but it wouldn't be intuitive if you haven't worked with fiber-optic cables before. The key is getting the right ports to have the light pass thru them...
On the dip-switches, remember, first three on the left are down. The 4th is up. The 5th is down, and the 6th is up. This is ONLY for GT3s without the CD changer or NAV.

Nicely done Mike!
I've installed 2 of these so far (one in the Turbo and one in the GT3) and it is WELL worth it if you drive the car on the street at all. I even added the BT kit to mine for the GT3 so I can talk hands free and also stream wirelessly my Pandora and ESPN apps.
I installed the USB and RCA boxes in my glove box for easy access.
And if you do have PCM, it is pretty sweet to have everything on your screen accessible

Dell that's exactly where I put mine as well... Glove box... just on the floor, not the ceiling... Well done!

I have the CDR23, bought a CDC-4 and cable, and had it installed. The CDC-4 powers up, but is not communicating with the CDR23. Any ideas on how to fix?

Joe, I'm pretty sure it has to be "activated". I don't remember if it is a dealer activation or if it can be done in the CDR menus. Check over on Renntech. I'm sure they have the answer.

According to Erik at Bumperplugs, you have to go to the dealer and get it activated... I need to do that this week myself. My head unit skips pretty badly.

My apologies, I didn't give all my info. A dealer did install and activate it, but cannot close the commo gap. He suggested a local aftermarket shop rather than spend more dealer service time $$$$.

It may be as simple as swapping the input and output on your fiberoptic ports... It requires pulled the plug appart and moving the two fiber optic cable locations in the plug.

I'd look at the GW500 installation guide to see how to press out the blue pin and slide the fiberoptic lines out of the connector.

Did you get to the dealer yet? If so, how did it go? (I've had mine installed for several months now, but I haven't found the time to get to the dealer yet.)
Thanks,
Mike
