Default 996 Cup Car Fly Wheel vs. RS Fly Wheel

I'm replacing my clutch and flywheel on my 04 GT3 to a cup set-up. Is there a weight difference between the 996 Cup single mass fly wheel and the RS light weight single mass fly wheel? Am I better off with one over the other? I'm thinking cup.

Thanks.

I had both, couldn't tell the difference. Just for the weight I would get the lighter Cup FW.

Yes, Cup flywheel is a little bit lighter. Cup is 8.5lbs vs. 11lbs for the 996 RS flywheel. Cup flywheel is the same flywheel that's now being factory installed in the 997 3.8 and 4.0 RS cars.

Clutch / Pressure Plate combo is going to be determined by your intended use. Lots of various combinations there.

For my street based car I did cup flywheel with stock 3.6 pressure plate and 3.6 RS clutch. It drives almost exactly like the car did stock other than the flywheel noise. I've driven a cup setup and they are nice and stronger for track work but impossible to use anywhere other than the track.

p.s. Might as well do the lighter crank pulley while you're in there. It's like another ~$100 in parts. on the 997 cars guys with flywheel and the stock pulley had issues with the pulley coming loose. Hasn't been reported to be the same on 996 cars but for the relatively cheap investment it's worth it for peace of mind if you ask me. Plus it's a little more weight off the rotating assembly.
