I agree and next time I would check with this driver directly - as he owns the truck he drives. I used a broker because I had a very short window of time to get the car out of LA and was trying to find a transporter on a weekend. To their credit - the broker I used was very good, available by phone on evenings and weekends, arranged the replacement truck within a couple hours, and had the car on the proper truck before my wife had to leave town. The broker also indicated she was mislead by the first driver that showed up. Based on my wife's comments - I believe that was probably true.

It was a gamble B/c I was also trying to save $$ and what I paid was cheap compared to most quotes for door to door. It worked out. I hope Mike's results (at least in the end) are just as good.
