Default WTB: 996 GT3 I'm looking for a 996 GT3, are there any stashed away?

I was hoping some of you guys here could help.

I'm looking to buy a 996 GT3 immediately. I check the usual channels including ebay, cars.com and auto trader but there's nothing currently available that really interests me. I thought I would ask those of you in the know if there's a car you know of that might be of interest to me.

If you know of one that might be available I would love to hear about it. I like cars specced out uniquely, a cookie cutter variant is not my first choice. If you or anyone you know has a car for sale or could be convinced to part with a car please let me know.

Finding the right car takes patience, they come and go. Good luck.

Is this GT3 for you, or one of your customers?

It's a car for me.

I'd wanted a GT3 for awhile and somehow ended up on a Turbo S that I was about to pull the trigger on until a few issues presented themselves on a PPI. Now I'm back in the GT3 hunt.

I know good cars that are priced right come up and sell within days. There's a few cars that have been available in the $60- $70 range but they just sit. I'm looking to spend between $50-60 and would prefer to find a unique color with full leather interior, ideally sport bucket seats and a few mods like upgraded shifter and LWFW.

I do like Slate Grey and Seal Grey but as I mentioned, a one of one color combination would be ideal.

Ryan, You're shopping in the price range I was in when I bought my Seal Gray GT3 from a member over on 6speeds. I found 6 that were in that price range in the March/April timeframe and all are now gone, except a white one owned by a Zone 2 Potomac member. I deleted the contact info when I closed the deal on the seal Grey car I'm waiting on delivery of from Camarillo, Ca. What I found is most of the owners were asking for much more than they were willing to accept. I was able to negotiate all but two of them into the $50s... So... Keep looking for the right car...It's out there.

Mikelly

The silver 3 from Camarillo, you just bought, used to be my car. Had it for 4 months and loved it. Picked it up from the original owner in San Jose in 08 and sold it to an english guy later that year. I spoke to the seller in Camarillo 2 weeks ago. The black wheels look really good. Enjoy it in good health!!!

I like to check the following two websites for classifieds:
1) http://www.ownster.com/(combs through Caraigslist and aggregates)
2) http://www.rallystuff.com/pcar_sources.html (collection of dealer & search websites for Porsches)

Price is a strange thing on a 8 year old car,

A full refresh costs massive money, so it all well and good having $50k to spend. But it might need $20k spending on it.

Then a $65k car with every thing done then seems a bargin.
No corners to be cut with a Gt3

Agree 100%! That said, none of the cars I looked at so much as had an upgraded diff or clutch. R&R of the motor is certainly a big deal, and we are talking more than $20k if there is need for rod, pistons, upgraded pumps, parts.

Again, reason I sold my heavily tracked 996tt.

There is a nice seal grey car in San Diego in the 50s. You should be able to find it on cars/autotrader.

there are very few 6gt3 with "everything" done.
if it did, it would be a $80k car.

a 50-55k 6gt3 is the mkt.
at that price, most are in good shape as long as you are careful of what you buy. u dont need LSD, or 4.0 R/P or re-gearing. the car is too fast for most drivers as is. just drive it.

Another reason I don't see Joe ever selling me back my car

Now THAT is a decision I regret every day. She was an amazing car to me
