Default good vibes

Thanks Mike/James - your enthusiasm is simply why I enjoy RL so much

I have definitely got the volt freaks on my list but haven't done much research yet. I was wondering what the drawback was - nice one liner to make it obvious to the inexperienced. Lite but gotta trickle feed it. We shd start a list for all the mods

Just got back from open track practice. Downloading my vids and data to try work through what 'happened' - net result the car feels great and we got the setup improved though it was a scorcher at 30+ degrees. The car feels great, but as with all changes there are now driving adjustments to be made! My top speed at the end of the straights is roughly 10pct higher! - weight and air intake mods - but I need to change my breaking points as I got much closer to the end of the track than usual. Not quite used to it and 2 sessions were short due to heat and its affects on some of the purpose built/race cars/drivers and then I lost a brake duct in the third ... which sounded terrible when it happened .. but gladly it came of clean and wasn't damaged more than a cable ties worth.

more later

I take it those are the front brake ducts. Man you're a jack of all trades with fabrication. Neway do u ziptie the brake ducts or use those stock plastic fasteners. After 100 plus offs on zipties hasn't come off : ). Mike

yes mike it was the front left that came off - the one I broke on the road and zip-tied together :0 as a quick fix while I waited for the ordered parts that never came. As I said earlier the test session was fun but my braking points were wrong with the higher speed the car was making and although I never offed I did cross over a few curbs/camber 'edges' I never usually touch - must have caught it there. I'm going to put on the newly fabricated ones this week and we'll see.

re fabrication I'm happy to get my hands dirty with the problem solving and experimenting but I'm pretty useless with metal - paint, plastic, wood are much easier for me. Mostly I like the odd/simple ones like making a gopro mount out of plumbing supplies which I saw on RL somewhere. But no way with fb to replicate the OEM fasteners - cable ties are better than velcro in my list of great inventions tho.

How much lower than stock is your 100-off surviving Megan?

Stock it's still low enuf to blast off brake ducts and front lip spoiler if it goes thru a grassy knoll. Lost 6 lip spoilers and popped off as many brake ducts in 1st season. Lesson learned ziptied the brake ducts and duct tape the lip spoiler on track days( small excursions the 3 duct tape has minimized it coming off- ugly but it works). Mike

I can't imagine Megan likes wearing cheap mascara! Yet to lose a lip but don't want to turn to that subject - enough threads already!. Let me know if you want to 'order' a set of the new gotta have mod fb ducts Slapping up a dozen or so this week if it cools down - 37.5 degrees today so resin v unworkable.

OT: Went to visit one of the old girls that made Porsche race cars what they are today - just came back onto the floor of a very special car museum owned by the guy who made Rothmans Tobacco a world wide superpower. A good petrol head reason to visit cape town .. beside the roads .. apologies for the shaky gorpo but the suction cup wouldn't stick to my forehead.

Ave Maria playing gave it the suitable feel of, well, heaven.

oh and check of these brake ducts (polished metal flutes) off the Tyrell F1 car! lol

- Like the way my feet move around on them
- Easy to maintain, wipe clean
- Protects carpet
- Allows me to mount my Traqmate unit with velcro on pax side
- Cheap, light, no compromise/dowside to using them
- Look good, without jumping out at you (not blingy)
- I have black, and it's holding up ok

Yeah, it's one of those "mods" that you think, "meh, what's the point". Then you get them, and really enjoy them.

Legitimate question: It's never been a problem, but you certainly can't wipe your feet on them. Then again, how well can you wipe your feet on nylon carpets anyway? I try to be careful and not waddle through too many puddles, but if it was an issue, I would just carry a rag and do a proper wipe before driving.

And then, if the mats did get wet, you would wipe them down, v. blotting the carpets.
