It you are going to track the car having the euro type seat is important feature. Not in weight but in your position when cornering. It enables the driver to stay in the proper position and focus on the line. Not just your *** but shoulders. Same with having a harness. If you brake hard in 3 point you end up tightening your upper body against the wheel. With a harness tightened, you are relaxed and faster. If you are comfortable in the stock seats then you are going slow. If you do not track then the seats do not matter. I started by switching for track days. Does not take much it time.

I just swapped out my 996TT Cab sport seats (full power and heat) with GT3 Euro's. The Sports weighed 50.6 lbs each w/ rails; GT3 Euro's weighed 28.6 lbs each w/ rails. 22 lbs savings per seat.
I echo what roberga said above about the GT3 Euro's for track use. I tracked my car last year with the sport seats and found that I was shifting all over the place, even with the seat belt locked, and bracing with my legs, arms and hands against the steering wheel (bad). Can't wait to get the car on the track with the Euro's and 6 points. I also installed a BK 1029 harness bar made especially for the 911 Cab. Attaches to the rear of the front seat rails and the rear seat belt attach points and works great.
