Default 997 JRZ shocks for 996?

Hi,

I know 996 and 997 shocks have different mounts - does anybody know if 997 JRZ (or motons) can be easily converted from 997 version to be mounted on a 996 gt3 car?

regards, Paul.

I called JRZ about this subject a month ago. They told me the following:

• If the shocks were made for a 997 they are compatible with all series of 997 (C2/C4/GT3/RS/RSR) they may need some slight modification such as a washer but they will work for all 997’s.
• They can be modified to work on a 996 but the cost would be prohibitive. The rear shocks require an eyelet mount on the 996. The 997 has a different type of saddle mount. The front shocks would need to be cut down and a new piston rod installed.

No price was quoted to me. Hope this helps. If you need more info contact the manufacture.

Thanks, just a few follow ups.

I cannot see how this would be a big deal or cost prohibitive, the lower mounts either screw on (most likely) or are press fit.

The front shocks would need to be cut down and a new piston rod installed.
Was there any mention of a reason why?

Thanks,
Mike

I am quoting what JRZ told me. I did not go into specifics since the cost of the used shocks were close to the top end of my budget. To spend the amount of money for a used set of shocks then modify them did not appeal to me. If they were dirt cheap then maybe I would have considered going this route.

Ok, fair enough. I picked some up dirt cheap a while ago, but have not got around to getting them fitted. The folks I talked to at the time did not think it would be that big of a deal. Can you PM me regarding who you talked to?
Thanks,
Mike
