Default headlight - bumper gap normal?

Howdy folks -

Pulled the front bumper cover off today for the first time so I could attach the front splitter, and when it came time to reattach it, I noticed the gap between the bottom of the headlight and the top of the bumper. Is this a normal looking gap? All the holes line up so I figure it must be, but I'm paranoid. I never noticed the gap being that big before, but then again, I've never really looked. Thanks!

Are u missing a piece of rubber trim? I have a rubber piece that fills that hole. Mike

The trim is there, it's just not visible at the angle I took the pic. If the camera moved up an inch, you could see it. I guess it doesn't look normal. I'll pull the bumper off again and try again. Boo.

You have the other side to compare.

But with just the one view to go on, the gap/space looks too large.

Getting the front bumper cover back on right is easy to screw up.

My tech buddies tell me that often when a car is brought in the bumper cover is not attached correctly, the fasteners are mixed up, the various plastic tabs/panels are not in the proper location and so on.

Sincerely,

Macster.

Why did you remove the bumper cover to attach your splitter?

Looked easier than trying to clean off all the gunk and lining everything up with the car on jackstands and the bumper inches from my face . Actually it was good in that the splitter's holes didn't line up exactly and one or two required some finagling.

I reattached the bumper with a bunch of pushing and pulling before tightening the screws and it looks much better. Still not sure it's 100% but I'll have to bug a friend with a 996 to look at it more closely.
