What do you think is the best seats to get in the $2,000 to $3,000 range.
I'm 5'9" / 185 if it matters.

I'm putting in a roll bar and harness.

Thanks for any input on what you have used.

Euro GT3 bucket seats if you want to keep it OEM, or just a pair of period correct Recaros. You can fit in the 99.99% of seats.

 

Get the 996 Euro GT3 seats. I am 5' 9", 170, and they fit me almost perfectly.

 

You just can't go wrong with these. And if you don't like them for any reason (very unlikely), you will be able to sell them easily.

 

As others have said, the best seat that serves you great on the track and keeps the car stock is the GT3 buckets.

 

I'll repeat it too, OEM recaro's are amazing seats. Low side bolsters make it easy to get in and out of them and allow them to easily work with the OEM 3 points on the street.

Your size you should fit no problems as long as you're a standard build. I'm 5'9" and about 205 right now, been lifting pretty hard the last few months and I have noticed that the shoulder room on the seats is pretty tight as I'm really starting to put on some upper body mass. Waist and lower portion of the seat is fine but It's going to be borderline uncomfortable if I get any bigger up top.

 

Can you keep the OEM belts (for street) and you use a 5 or 6 point harness with them????

 

Absolutely. That is exactly what I do.

Just make sure the 3pt belt is routed correctly.

The Euro GT3 seat is an OK seat. Not terribly comfortable IMO (negative lumbar support) but they have the advantage of looking 'right' in a GT3.

I had the leather seat. If I were to do it over I'd get cloth. Leather is all wrong on the track (doesn't breath) but nice on the street. Cloth is definitely better on the track when you start sweating a lot.

Safest seat is probably the Recaro with head restraint sides. Not that street friendly though.

I like the Sparco Evo. Be sure to 'try out' as many seats as you can. They don't all feel the same.

 

Another vote for the Euto GT3 seats but take out the *** cushion when on the track; it lowers your body and give more feedback.
I prefer the leather over the cloth, the cloth is very easy to rip and tear, IMO.

 

I prefer the Perlon Velour clubsport ones.
I sold mine to a RLer cause I am too tall for their belt openings.
The covers looked like new.

But.. rip one seat and prepare to pay 350EUR for 1 cover!
All three , two bottoms and one for the back are at 1k..
They went crazy with the cover prices.
5 years ago I had bought one because I burned it with a cigarette for 60EUR.

 

+1 for the Euro GT3 seats, but make sure your SO is comfortable in them, too, if you get the pair. Don't ask me how I know...
