Not a P-car, but...A little VIR action in the new car
So last weekend got out with the new car. Picked it up on Thursday night, got home at midnight, only to work, pack and go right back out to VIR on Friday night. Which means no data - didn't even have time to hook up my AIM. But, I did get some video in the last session. Was working out a couple of small bugs in the car and ran a very conservative map (less RPM and timing) so I kept bouncing off the rev limiter on the straights and couple of other spots. Car is going to be a beast - I can't wait to get it dialing in!
Oh, and this is Blue group, so lot's of traffic.

Where the love from the Bimmerworld car on the last lap? No point by, made you lift. Looked like about a 2:06 on that lap. Damn good for first time out. Nice driving!! Love the sound!

John - I actually need to get it to the dyno. I expect somewhere around 250-260 level. Car is pretty light and at 260hp I can get the car down to 2340 - I will definitely need to figure out how to max out. My goal is to get it in to 2:03 level which based on my little test day should be very reasonable. Of course its hard to predict until I see the times flash up on the screen.

Actually twice - entering the esses I had to lift, than I absolutely blew turn 10, then again on back straight - all the way to turn in since we were side by side and I wasn't about to wreck one of their beautiful E90s.

2:03 seems very reasonable, looks like it might pull that as it stands. Sweet car congrats. Next time at VIR I'd like to get to around 2:10. I'll need some coaching Dell!!

Without the hold up on the back straight and the t10 mistake the last lap was likely a 2.06 (actual 2.08)
Is that 2340 with you in the seat I'm assuming so w/ those lap times?
What tires are you going to run. If not currently on slicks it probably already has a 2.03 in it.
Hopefully we'll catch each other on track sometime next year possibly a tarheel and toe event. I'll stay in touch
PS I see some late braking in your future.

Fritz - you're right. I loved the 6GT3, but was always very cautious in it. In a year of running it I never once went even 2 wheels off. That should tell you that I never went 100%. I doubt that would ever change - every time in a crazy situation I would always think about the $2,500 set of fenders or $9,000 transmission or $15,000 engine. You can't race with those thoughts in the back of your mind.
Plus there is something special about an E30 that is absolutely wicked on track. That session was on a 2 year old set of Biasply Hoosier slicks, new Radial slicks are already ordered! I can't wait to start exploring the brakes more - I was so overly early braking because of lack of ABS. Now I feel much better about them.
Let's keep in touch. I don't do any THSCC events, but will likely come up for FSR or NASA at VIR.
