Default Speaking of Coolant lines - a hose blew

Check this out. [might take a second to loads]. Photographer at the right place and time to catch my car blow a coolant line (one of the big hoses, left side of the car).

Damn. Glad you didn't do any other damage. Video? Anyone behind you? Where was this?

Lucky boy that there were no walls or close traffic. Let us know which one and the mode of failure. Seems that there are quite a variety. I don't think I'm taking this car to the track anymore unless I get everything welded. Unfortunately, no place at all nearby to do this. C'mon Porsche, do the right thing!!

Wow- that is some major blowout. Were u on coolant or water wetter? Mine blew on rt side by ac pump. Didnt even know it blew til I got meatballed. I was on water wetter and must have gone thru 2-3 turns wo snapping like that. PAG needs to do something- all gt3's will age and blow on the street and kill somebody. Mike

Do you know the specific hose/fitting that blew?
I had my top fittings welded, but I should have also had all the hoses
replaced as well.

It was a hose. The one on the left side of the engine. I'll post some pics at the house. About a 3-4" gash just opened up.

Some stills [purchases from Blair]

Great, so not only do the fittings fail, but the hoses fail too.

Is there a solution for this? Better hoses or something?

I'm having my fittings addressed and all new hoses. I will still run water wetter. Mike

Same exact thing happened to Brad last year at Thunderhill. I was one of several cars behind that got taken for a ride.

Hoses fail eventually... It's also important that they are clipped/seated in well. Give the hose a good tug after installing.

Glad you where able to stay on the track and it looks like no one was right behind.

Happened to me too. Other side hose. Same size gash, same violent explosion from the look of your pics. Luckily I was in the middle of a straight and was able to get off track before the breaking zone. Another reason to run with water wetter.

Happened on the first session of a three day event. Couldn't find a replacement part in stock at any of the dealers in the state. That ended a three day event. All for a 38.00 part. Replaced both sides and now I carry spares.

As Serge says, hoses need to be replaced/checked.

That hose looks exactly like one on the turbos- there's an updated 997 part number for an improved version... Assuming it's the same part on the GT3

Sure "hoses fail eventually", but aren't the issues on the 6GT3 beyond reasonable? Or does everyone believe their hose failure was expected, given they had thrashed the car so much?

Anyone know how often the hoses rip vs the fittings popping out? Because dropping the motor to weld the fittings is expensive, and apparently not a complete solution.

How often should one replace the coolant hoses? Can they all be done without dropping the motor?

Can anyone who's had their fittings welded comment about the Torque Solution fittings for GT1 engines? Worth it? Link: http://www.torquesolution.com/product-p/ts-por-001.htm

Also, anyone have a link where can I order all the coolant hoses?

Thanks.
