Default monoball / links maintenance ?

I was wondering how do you maintain your monoball links :
drop links
toe links
dog bones
...

Most of those have the monoball exposed to the element so I was wondering if you clean, oil, spray those things in order to keep them in good shape ?

I see that tarett offer some boots to cover the drop links, does anybody know where to buy such things for cheaper than at tarett

From the manufacturer: http://www.sealsit.com/rodendboots.asp

Most of the teflon lined rod ends are "maintenance free." Regular oiling is typically needed for rod ends with steel or bronze races (metal on metal).
