Default Yoko AD08

For those that have been waiting or looking for the Yokohama AD08. They are listed on Tire Rack as being available on Oct 4.

This is the first I have seen the 295/30/18 available in a year.

I put in an order for 295s back in Feburary, but had to settle for 285s. Thats great news for 2012 when I pick up a set.

They're showing as "back order" already.

WOW, that was fast. I emailed Yokohama and they said:

"We greatly appreciate your interest for the Yokohama Tire brand. The size 295/30R18 is currently active for the Advan A048 and Advan Neova AD08 models. For pricing and availability information, you can contact an authorized Yokohama dealer near you.

To find a dealer near you, please visit http://www.yokohamatire.com and click “Find a Dealer” or you can call our toll-free dealer locator at 1 (800) 722-9888 option 1."

How do these tires compare to PS2s? My street tires are getting low and its tough to swallow $1500+ for PS2s.

I always agree with Mooty but this time he is wrong. AD08's are way superior to PS2's. We did back to back same day testing between PS2 and AD07 (ADO8's predecessor) at Sebring and the AD08 was 2 secs a lap faster. Car was 6GT3 with Moton CS as only mod. since then we have run faster on the AD08 (6GT3 stock no mods) than the AD07.

Cheap, good tires for street (and a little DE [raintire?]); Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110 (link)

I just can't see the need for much more for the street. JMHO

For the street, I want a fast dry tire, but wet performance, wear, and tire noise is also a consideration.

PS2 is incredible in its ability to achieve a nice balance of everything above.

...except if you use them as a rain tire at a track day and then the track dries out, because the thin shoulder on the PS2 will wear through in no time. I've destroyed a couple sets of tires this way. Yoko AD08 has a much more durable outside shoulder and can take hard cornering more without wearing out as fast.

Cheers,

I'm afraid I am here to confirm the backorder. We had a (very) few come in at the end of July and they went right back out. None since with no more on the horizon. They have not been discontinued, but they have not given us a production date on any more, either. Spring is about the best I can guarantee.

As far as quality goes, I'm in 100% agreement with 85gold. The AD08 holds our skidpad record for lateral G's and it's a favorite for guys wanting the closest dry grip they can get to a Michelin Cup in a street tire. In the rain they are as close to Pirelli Corsa as you get. It's a top-shelf tire.

Damon, I ordered mine on 3 Oct and I guess they had a few(?). I received the ship notice yesterday.

I put your name down on the order as the person that helped me because of all the support you give to Rennlist. Hope it helps in some way.
